WWMS BAND ONLINE CLASS INFORMATION
All students at West Wilkes Middle School will have 1:1 netbooks available to them through the school. Students and parents will have access to their Canvas pages on their home devices. Each band class will have a Canvas learning site where students will be able to find useful links and online assignments, units, training challenges that can be completed in school and at home.
Parents can also check out forms and announcements handed out in class through the students Canvas page. If you are wondering about a concert, class info, announcements or forms go to the Forms link on your students canvas page.

Overview of Classes in the West Wilkes Band Program
6th Grade Band
This is the beginning level of band and the best time to be a part of the band. All students do not need to have any experience playing an instrument. This is where you start! We have music playing and learning activities every day in class. We encourage all of our rising 6th graders and potential musicians to join in 6th grade and see what the fun is about. 6th grade will perform in two concerts one in December and one at the end of the year ( usually in May or late April). Students may attend Band Night at WWHS and will have the opportunity to tryout for other optional activities through out the year.
7th Grade band
This is the second year of band but some beginners my join with director approval. Students will be encouraged to work towards All district and All county Band preperation and performance opportunities. Students will attend Band Night at WWHS in the Fall. Students will prepare for Spring Festival Opportunities and perform in 2 concerts during the year. Select student my apply to be a Cadet Corp member of the WWHS Marching Blackhawks.
8th Grade band
This is the third and most fun year to be in band Students will be encouraged to work towards All district and All county Band preperation and performance opportunities. Students will attend Band Night at WWHS in the Fall and perform the National Anthem with the Marching Blackhawks at the start of the game. Students will prepare for Spring Festival opportunities and perform in 2 concerts during the year. Select students my apply to be a Cadet Corp member of the WWHS Marching Blackhawks. 8th grade band is considered the ambassodaros of the WWMS Band Program and may participate in concerts during school to help showcase our band program for new potential members and for the Community.
